I also had a similar experience to that of James, I had booked my car in for a repair December 2nd for a dent in the door, they said there would be no courtesy car until end of January so we waited...then they cancelled and rebooked and cancelled and rebooked finally we just took the car in and used our 2 week rentacar allowance on our insurance policy. Well two weeks later, not only had they not done the work, but they informed us after the two week rentacar allowance had passed. That the dent had written off the car,and the car was to be salvaged. Upon racing up to Wokingham from Chievely with the help of a neighbour (they would not come to collect me) they had already started to dismantle my car and pull out pieces that they wanted prior to me deciding to take it to another smaller bodyshop for the repair (as some mechanics offered to do a side job for £300 to fix the car and I decided it was safer to go through my insurance policy...buyer beware. My father in law who is an insurance mediator warned me not to bring it to Nationwide as its a chop shop...they get £1000K to fix your car, or not fix your car, no matter the size of the job...they have a fixed contract with most insurers...so it wasn't worth their while to repair our dent (the Voyager was 8 years old with 67K miles on it) the dent was cosmetic and we could have lived with it...my worst regret ever. They managed the whole process horribly, they NEVER call you, its you that must chase them down. They make pie crust promises of providing you with a courtesy car...they have "over 44" they stated...yet they put us off month after month. They assured me if I chose to bring it to them they wouldn't leave me stranded with a house full of children during the holidays, yet they did. You are entitled to use any bodyshop repair unit you want...do not let your insurance company suggest you use on of theirs, they are probably profitting from this arrangement. Most of all do your research, they sound professional and you feel safe after your initial chat, but once they take your car they have you over a barrel...its a chop shop folks...take it to your local body shop!

I was involved in a actident and my Vectra needed the bumper replaced along with some other minor parts. The car was booked in on the 12/04/08. Initially i was impressed as i recieved a text message informing me the repairs had commenced on my car and i would be kept informed right the way through the serivce. From then on its not only become a bad serivce but the worst experience with a mechanics i have ever experienced. I was initially told it would be finish a week later. I waited a week and a half and then called to find out what was happening only to be told that there was still problems and they would contact me in an hour with an update. After 4 hours i called back and they said it wouldnt be completed for another 3 or 4 days. I asked if i could claim my courtsey car but they said they had non available and would inform me when that had. . They then called me a week later to ask for my Pin to the car radio as it was finished and just needed test driving. The chap said not to come and collect it until i recieved tha call informing me the test drive was completed... I then called back later and they said that they had discovered a problem and had to ensure everything was perfect before they release the car which i though 'well fair enough'. I then waited over a week and called back on the friday and they said that it was ready for collection and to come and get the car. So i called a taxi to take me there (£70 each way) and when i arrived they said there was another problem and to go home (another £70 taxi fare). I again ased if there was any courtsey cars available and they said no they could do with some more. I then got told that i needed to wait for them to sort out the new problems by tuesday (it was friday). So yet again i called them on the tuesday as they NEVER EVER EVER give you a call like they say they will and asked if the car was ready and they said there where more problems but it would definatly be ready by friday (now 5 weeks into the whole ordeal).. So again i heard nothing from them so i called them to ask what the F**k is going on and they have said that its gone to a mail dealer to have the steering rewired... (i was sort of happy that the car was nolonger in their possesion and now with Vauxhall not this exuse of a company) Its now been there over a week and i have to still keep calling as they never call you to keep you posted... oh and even though its now 7 weeks im still not anywhere near the top of the list for a courtsey car. Im so appauled with this i dont no whether to scream at them or to seek legal advise... DO NOT BELIEVE THEIR WEBSITE WHEN THEY TELL YOU THEY OFFER COURTSEY CARS AS THE DONT ALWAYS maybe if they like you they will who knows.... They dont keep you informed and their website tracking thing is never kept uptodate... A complete discrase and a let down...... WATCHDOG PLEASE INVESTIGATE>>
