This place is a joke! The 4 of us would have got more dining satisfaction from standing around in the garden, gnawing our fingernails and setting fire to £200 in cash. My passion for a good meal and decent service was certainly not fulfilled here. Fortunately, I am also very fond of Fawlty Towers, so watching the totally incompetent staff in the restaurant do a great impression of Torquay's finest establishment was a slight consolation prize against what was a terrible dining experience. There were 2 waiting staff looking after our 2 tables of 4 and a private room of around 20, so possibly short staffed, or possibly just a comedy show? My life is too short and the experience too painful to elaborate on quite how abysmal the service was in this mockery of an establishment. At every single point over the evening the waiting staff were shockingly poor. It quickly became a total farce with everyone complaining, every order being wrong and the whole place was like a shambles. Waiting 20 mins for our drinks, having to ask 3 times for them, waiting 1 hour 20 mins for the main course and then getting our order wrong...you get the picture. We did take some consolation in the fact that the only other table and the private room were both complaining as well. The food is OK - only one dish had to be sent back - but at £50 a head, the service would be out of place at a Wimpy. When we complained and asked to see the owner we had told he had gone home to bed? Is this the same owner Xavier Le-Bellego supposedly a protege of Raymond Blanc and Albert Roux? Please don't go here - it is run like a cynical joke with no regard for the customers. And if you do insist on seeing how bad it is...don't say I didn't warn you! You will be very disappointed and you will get angry. It is a comedy of errors and if they carry on like this they won't be in business for long.
