Guidance Notes on the Installation and Maintenance of Natural Stone Tiles Mosaics

Installation:
All natural stone, even polished granite, is porous and should be sealed to prevent staining. In most cases, we suggest you apply the first coat of stone impregnator (commonly referred to as a sealer) when the stone has been fixed but before it has been grouted. This makes any grout on the surface of the stone easy to clean off. Occasionally, when working with some of the more porous limestones, we recommend you apply the first coat of sealer prior to fixing the stone in order to save any marking during the fixing process. The second coat can be applied once the grout has fully dried. To ensure that the grout as well as the stone is protected, a third coat can be applied after the previous coat has completely dried and been absorbed into the stone. This will usually take 12-24 hours depending upon ambient conditions..
